Guide 2: Managing Security Codes Safely, How to Add & Delete User Codes on a DSC Keypad | ASI
Maintaining a secure audit trail means giving everyone their own code. Your DSC system offers preprogrammed "User Levels" to restrict access based on an employee's role.
Understanding User Levels:
Master Code [Slot 40]: The ultimate administrator. Can perform all functions and assign codes. This should be kept strictly to ownership/upper management.
Supervisor [Slots 41, 42]: Similar to the Master level, allowing managers to assign standard codes without needing an ASI installer.
Standard Users [Slots 1 - 32]: Everyday employees. Their access is defined by the Master User and is typically restricted to simply arming and disarming.
Onetime User Code [Slot 8]: An incredibly useful feature for temporary vendors or weekend HVAC contractors. This code can disarm the system once per day and automatically resets daily at midnight.
Duress [Slots 33, 34]: A critical life-safety feature for retail or high-risk environments. If an employee is forced to disarm the system under threat, entering this specific code will disarm the panel as usual to avoid raising suspicion, while also sending a silent panic alarm to our 24/7 monitoring station.
How to Program a New User:
Press [*] + [5] + [Master security code].
Enter the two-digit number to be programmed (e.g., 06 for User 6) OR use the [< >] keys to find the desired slot and press [*].
Enter the new 4-digit access code. Press [#] to exit.
How to Erase an Access Code: Navigate to the user's slot and press [*] as the first digit. The system will instantly wipe the code, securing your building against former employees.
